According to the circulated pictures online, the commitment letter requires families to make several promises, including: adhering to the correct political direction, advocating science, and enhancing the concept of being a member of the Communist Party; firmly establishing a Marxist materialistic viewpoint, strengthening the education of atheism, not believing in religion and not participating in any religious activities, and not promoting religion in any place; abiding by national laws and not participating in cult organizations, etc.

In addition, Pastor Liu Yimou, who had worked in the Three-Self Church in Zhejiang for many years, told Radio Free Asia that Wenzhou has been gradually restricting religious freedom in recent years. He said that in 2017, several churches received government notices prohibiting minors from participating in religious activities or entering churches.
