Specifically, the capital expenditures of U.S. oil and gas extraction companies also showed a significant decrease during this period. As shown in Figure 2.2.7, the capital expenditure index for the U.S. oil and gas exploration and extraction industry in the first quarter of 2023 was 17.1, representing a 57% QoQ decrease.
