The response of ALP to ALP-CyCl-1080 is based on intra-molecular charge transfer (ICT) mechanism, where the push-pull electronic effect changes before and after the enzyme-catalyzed reaction. This results in distinguishable fluorescence spectra of both ALP-CyCl-1080 and the reaction product CyCl-1080, with an opening ratio of up to 21.2 times.
