Improving the planning and operational level of rail transit systems is of great significance in increasing the proportion of people choosing rail transit for travel and reducing traffic congestion. Although the number of rail transit lines and stations in a city may be relatively small, the passenger flow at these stations is often substantial. Rail transit systems efficiently transport a large number of passengers from one station to another within the city. This massive movement of passengers, along with its significant temporal and spatial fluctuations, largely represents and reflects the patterns of population mobility within the city and the layout of the urban environment. Therefore, accurately characterizing and describing rail transit ridership, exploring the travel mechanisms, distribution patterns, and their relationship with the urban built environment, are essential for the planning, construction, and adjustment of rail transit lines.
