In this birth cohort study, we included 8,375 pregnant women from Foshan city between 2015 and 2019. Demographic characteristics of the pregnant women were collected from the medical record system. Inflammatory markers, including platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and systemic immune inflammation index (SII), were calculated from routine peripheral blood tests obtained during their antenatal care. The diagnosis of GDM was defined according to the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria (IADPSG) during late trimester 2 and early trimester 3. We conducted a multivariable linear regression model to estimate the associations between inflammatory markers and oral glucose tolerance test results. Logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association of these inflammatory markers with GDM. Additionally, we used the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve to evaluate the predictive effect of these inflammatory markers.
