Tumor-associated neutrophils expressing CCL2+ or CCL17+ have been shown to facilitate the secretion of BMP-2 and TGF-β2, leading to enhanced expression of miR-301b-3p via paracrine signaling. This, in turn, activates the NF-κB signaling pathway and promotes stem cell ability in vitro in HCC cells. In response, these HCC cells upregulate CXCL5 expression, which attracts more neutrophils to infiltrate the TME.
