Did you know that the shortest war in history lasted only 38 minutes? It was fought between the countries of Zanzibar and Great Britain on August 27, 1896. The war was sparked by a succession dispute between two candidates for the position of sultan of Zanzibar. Zanzibar surrendered quickly after the British opened fire on their palace, resulting in a casualty count of around 500 Zanzibaris and one British sailor.
