Resiliency Mediates the Relationship Between Mindfulness and Parenting Stress: A Multi-Intermediation Analysis
This study investigated the direct and indirect effects of mindfulness on parenting stress, incorporating psychological flexibility and resiliency as mediators. A multi-intermediation analysis revealed a statistically insignificant direct effect of mindfulness on parenting stress (β = -0.046, 95% CI: -0.234, 0.099). However, mindfulness demonstrated significant indirect effects through both psychological flexibility (β = -0.104, 95% CI: -0.180, -0.034) and resiliency (β = -0.197, 95% CI: -0.287, -0.111). Notably, resiliency exhibited a stronger mediating effect compared to psychological flexibility. The total effect of mindfulness on parenting stress was significant (β = -0.347, 95% CI: -0.712, -0.347), with the model explaining 17.10% of the variance in parenting stress. These findings suggest that both psychological flexibility and resiliency play crucial mediating roles in the relationship between mindfulness and parenting stress, with resiliency demonstrating a more substantial impact. This highlights the importance of fostering resiliency in interventions aimed at mitigating parenting stress through mindfulness-based practices.
