It is well known that relying on manual counting of eggs is inefficient, time-consuming, and costly in terms of both time and labor [13], [14]. Take a typical small-scale egg-laying poultry farm with 50,000 birds as an example; it produces around 43,000 eggs per day, requiring the manual counting of 440 boxes of eggs. Moreover, in China, commercial egg-laying poultry farming is almost entirely based on the stacked-layer model. Due to individual differences among birds, the egg production of each layer is not uniform, and manual counting is difficult to conduct precise and efficient monitoring of egg numbers for each layer. This limitation restricts the accurate and efficient optimization of feeding schemes for each layer, inevitably resulting in resource waste and increased costs.
