Urbanization Gradient and Organic Matter Changes in Typical Forest Soils of the Dongjiang River Basin

This study investigates the impact of urbanization on organic matter content in typical forest soils within the Dongjiang River Basin. The research explores the spatial variations of soil organic matter along an urbanization gradient, providing insights into the effects of human activities on soil health and ecosystem services. The findings reveal a clear trend of decreasing soil organic matter content with increasing urbanization intensity. This decline is attributed to factors such as land use changes, increased impervious surface areas, and altered nutrient cycling. The study highlights the importance of sustainable urban planning and management practices to mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization on soil health and ecosystem functioning in the Dongjiang River Basin.
