Volunteerism: A Common Practice Among Chinese University Students

Nowadays, it's become commonplace for Chinese university students to participate in 'volunteer activities'. They serve the elderly in communities, provide assistance in mountainous areas for education, organize 'charity events', or volunteer at important international events such as the 'World Expo' or the 'Olympics'. Participating in 'volunteer activities' helps students acquire 'professional skills', gain 'social experience', and improve their 'moral values'. The majority of university students believe that engaging in 'volunteer service' is their 'social responsibility' and obligation. They hope to do something meaningful to give back to society and actively promote 'social harmony' and development.
