Tachinidae is a family of Diptera in the Calyptratae and Oestroidea superfamilies with a global distribution. It comprises 4 subfamilies, 58 tribes, 1500 genera, and 8592 species worldwide, including 4 subfamilies, 42 tribes, 285 genera, and 1253 species in China. The complex morphology of adult tachinids and their parasitic larval stage make them one of the most effective natural enemies of agricultural, forestry, horticultural, and garden pests, playing a crucial role in controlling pest population size in both natural and artificial ecosystems. Tachinids have great potential for biological pest control and integrated pest management in plant protection. However, only seven tachinid subfamilies have their mitochondrial genomes recorded in GenBank, with the long-legged tachinid subfamily being one of the least represented. Therefore, sequencing and analyzing the mitochondrial genome of the long-legged tachinid subfamily is of significant importance for understanding the evolution and phylogenetic relationships of Tachinidae and its subfamilies.
