Our school hosts the 2023 report meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology's Youth Talent Project On March 30th, the 2023 report meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology's Youth Talent Project was held at the A105 lecture hall of our school's aquaculture building. This report meeting exchanged the latest research results in various fields of aquaculture and was chaired by Gao Jian, the vice-dean of the School of Aquaculture. Nanhu News Network (Correspondent Yan Mengzhi) On March 30th, the 2023 report meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology's Youth Talent Project was held at the A105 lecture hall of our school's aquaculture building. This report meeting invited the seventh and eighth China Association for Science and Technology's Youth Talent Project members of the China Fisheries Society. Five scholars, including Wang Wenlei, associate professor of Xiamen University, Tan Yuqing, associate professor of China Agricultural University, Li Ao, researcher of the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Yiming, assistant researcher of the Institute of Fisheries Machinery and Instrumentation, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and Tu Xiao, associate professor of the School of Aquaculture of our university, gave academic reports on their latest research results in their own research fields. The meeting was chaired by Gao Jian, vice-dean of the School of Aquaculture. Wang Wenlei gave a report on the analysis of the mature mechanism of Laminaria japonica and the cultivation of new varieties. In his report, he introduced the development of large-scale seaweed cultivation in China, the current situation of "difficult breeding of excellent varieties" of laver, and the latest research progress in the cultivation of Laminaria japonica. Then, Tan Yuqing gave an academic report entitled "Application and Mechanism of Fish Processing By-Products as Nitrogen Source Substitutes for Microbial Culture Media". The report discussed the differences in high-quality utilization of domestic and foreign aquatic product processing by-products, and took the silver carp as an example to introduce the high-quality processing method of fish head protein and the impact of fish processing by-products as nitrogen source substitutes on the growth of probiotics. Li Ao gave an academic report entitled "Analysis of Adaptation Evolution Mechanism of Oysters and Its Breeding Application". The report mainly introduced the research status and progress of the evolutionary mechanism of quantitative traits and adaptive traits of oysters under the influence of environmental factors. Li Yiming gave an academic report entitled "Analysis of the Source of Japanese Swamp Shrimp and Research on Healthy Breeding". The report focused on the analysis of the source of the swamp shrimp and the healthy breeding of Japanese swamp shrimp. He believed that the breeding method of catching large and leaving small and the multi-generational breeding of breeding populations are the main reasons for the genetic degradation of Japanese swamp shrimp, and emphasized that genetic resources and the breeding of excellent varieties are the prerequisites for achieving large-scale breeding of prawns (Japanese swamp shrimp). Tu Xiao summarized the harm of fish parasitic diseases and the problems existing in the current drug prevention and control, and gave a series of research work on the development of new drugs for monostome disease and small gourd worm disease in an academic report entitled "Research and Development of Drug Prevention and Control of Important Fish Parasitic Diseases". During the meeting, teachers and students actively and in-depth discussed the report contents. Finally, Professor Gao Jian made a relevant summary of the meeting. He emphasized that scientific research should focus on the major needs of industrial development and carry out sustained research on scientific issues in the field. The "Youth Talent Project" is a project implemented by the China Association for Science and Technology since 2015 to improve the innovative and service capabilities of young scientific and technological talents under the age of 32 with strong innovation ability and development potential. It helps them become important reserve forces for national science and technology leaders and high-level innovation teams. So far, the China Fisheries Society has undertaken four Youth Talent Projects and has supported 11 young talents.
