Enhanced Electrochemical Performance of Layered Lithium-Rich Manganese-Based Oxide Cathode Synthesized via Sol-Gel Method
The layered lithium-rich manganese-based oxide cathode (Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2) samples were prepared via the sol-gel method. In this process, a stoichiometric amount of lithium nitrate (5 wt% excess), manganese nitrate solution (50 wt% aqueous solution), nickel nitrate hexahydrate, and cobalt nitrate hexahydrate were dissolved in deionized water. Then, citric acid aqueous solution and ethylene glycol, acting as chelating agents, were slowly added to the transparent sol-gel precursor solution under vigorous stirring. The resulting solution was dried at 80ᄚC for 12 hours and subsequently calcined in air at 800ᄚC for 8 hours. Finally, the obtained powder was ground and sieved to achieve the desired particle size for further characterization and electrochemical tests.
