One-dimensional fiber electronic devices, with their highly flexible and deformable characteristics, have attracted increasing interest. Particularly, they can be woven into breathable and comfortable textiles for wearable applications. Fiber optic devices with various functionalities, such as energy harvesting and storage, sensing, and displays, have therefore been extensively explored. However, most fiber optic devices work individually rather than as a system.

This perspective aims to highlight promising design concepts, assembly strategies, and performance improvements of fiber electronic systems. It then analyzes their practical applications from multidisciplinary perspectives, including materials science, electrical engineering, textile engineering, and health monitoring. Finally, it summarizes the remaining challenges to guide future research in academia and industry.
