Qingshan Ancient Town: Revitalizing History and Culture in Wuhan

The Qingshan Ancient Town area extends from the east to the Wugang Industrial Port, from the south to the petrochemical plant area, from the west to the Third Ring Road and Jian She Eleventh Road, and from the north to the Wuhui Embankment, with a total land area of 3.5 square kilometers. The Qingshan Ancient Town area has witnessed the beginning and development of Qingshan and has created the origin and essence of Qingshan culture. The area retains the landscape pattern of the Five Mountains and One River, the street texture that has carried the ancient town for thousands of years, and the industrial civilization represented by the shipyard spatial imprint.

Based on the current situation assessment and the evaluation of the resources and realities of the ancient town area, the update plan expands the scope of 'retention, renovation, and demolition' from housing construction to spatial environment, and formulates the best spatial update plan. With the overall positioning of 'the important destination of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park, the historical and cultural creative transformation demonstration area on the Huanghuang Bridgehead of Wuhan-Ezhou, and the model area for livable waterfront', the spatial structure of 'three core areas in the shape of a Chinese character and five sections with double corridors' is constructed.

As one of the first batch of effective update units in the city, the Qingshan Ancient Town area has been approved by the Municipal Urban Planning and Development Committee and the Municipal Update Leadership Group, and has entered the comprehensive implementation and promotion phase.
