International Students: Library Services & Welcome Orientation

Notice

To ensure international students from overseas have a better understanding of our university library services, we are issuing this notice to inform you of some relevant information about our library.

When you register as a new student, you will each receive a student card, which will grant you access to the university library. Our library houses a vast collection of books, periodicals, multimedia learning materials, and more, catering to the diverse needs of readers. Additionally, there are computers available in the lobby on the first floor for students to search for any books or documents they may require. A library orientation event will be held for you on Wednesday afternoon. During this event, you will have the opportunity to visit the library, and the activity will last for approximately half an hour. The library is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm from Monday to Friday. Welcome to China! Knowing your passion for travel, I am delighted to recommend a few of the most famous sightseeing spots in Beijing.

Firstly, I recommend visiting the Forbidden City, the world's largest ancient palace complex. It showcases a dazzling array of artworks and rare antiques, providing an opportunity to quickly grasp the rich history and profound culture of China. Secondly, if you are interested in outdoor activities, I suggest visiting the Great Wall. Standing atop the ancient watchtowers and taking in the breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges will undoubtedly make your trip worthwhile. Additionally, many unique cafes and art galleries are hidden in the ancient alleyways, known as hutongs, of Beijing. After a day of teaching, riding a bicycle to explore the heart of the old city center is an enchanting way to experience the charm of hutong culture.

Dear Volunteers,

Heartfelt thanks for your enthusiastic participation in our 'Aiding Rural Primary Schools' project. I am writing to respond to your inquiries regarding the upcoming volunteer activities.

Every summer vacation, we organize ten volunteers to go into rural areas and teach at primary schools with limited teaching resources for three weeks. International student volunteers are usually responsible for teaching English and assisting local teachers in their lessons, which greatly helps the children who struggle with English learning. Before departure, there will be a brief training session during which you should plan your teaching curriculum and submit it in advance for coordination. Rest assured that the cost of accommodation, meals, and transportation for volunteers during the teaching period will be covered by the university.

Great news! The annual 'Chinese Song Singing Competition' for international students will kick off next Saturday (December 28th) at 7:00 pm.

This year's competition will take place in the Grand Hall, equipped with brand new lighting and sound equipment, offering the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your musical passion and hone your singing skills. The competition consists of three rounds, and only solo performances are allowed. To participate, you need to submit a list of Chinese songs you are willing to sing, from which the judges will select your performance songs for each round. The top ten winners will receive generous prizes!

Students who wish to participate can find our information booth near the cafeteria at around 12:00 pm every day this week. We look forward to your participation.

Secondly, various talent recruitment websites, including those specifically designed for foreigners in China, are viable options as you can receive firsthand job information and submit job applications online. Lastly, do not forget to apply for a work visa for graduates. Otherwise, you will not be able to work in China.

Our university's annual international innovation competition is scheduled to take place from the late 24th to the 30th of next month. I am pleased to invite you and your students to participate as a team.

The competition aims to encourage the younger generation to address real-world problems through innovative means. This year, each team (composed of up to four participants) will brainstorm and develop a detailed proposal on urban waste management and recycling. An independent panel of judges will evaluate the submitted proposals for their originality and feasibility, selecting five winning proposals. With your expertise in urban planning research, you may provide insightful and even groundbreaking insights into sustainable waste management. Moreover, more than 15 teams from renowned universities worldwide have already confirmed their participation. Engaging in discussions with them is sure to be inspiring and rewarding.
