Scientists have discovered a new species of dinosaur in Argentina, which is believed to be one of the oldest known members of the group that gave rise to the largest dinosaurs ever to walk the Earth. The newly identified dinosaur, named Bagualia alba, lived about 230 million years ago and stood only about 3 feet tall at the hip. It belonged to the group of dinosaurs known as sauropodomorphs, which includes the long-necked giants such as Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus. The discovery sheds new light on the evolution of these colossal beasts and their smaller ancestors.
