The siege of Yorktown was a significant battle in the American Revolutionary War, but it was not the only battle or event that led to the end of the war. After the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781, there were still British forces in North America, and negotiations for peace continued for two more years. The Treaty of Paris, which formally ended the war, was not signed until September 1783.
