Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM): A Reliable and Valid Self-Report Questionnaire

The Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM) is a self-report questionnaire used to measure the impact of eczema on patients' daily lives. It consists of 7 items, each inquiring about the number of days in the past week that the patient exhibited certain symptoms of eczema (dry and flaky skin, bleeding, sleep loss, etc.). Patients choose an option reflecting the frequency of their symptoms from the following: 0 days, 1-2 days, 3-4 days, 5-6 days, or every day. The POEM score ranges from 0 to 28. Studies have demonstrated that the POEM has good reliability and validity.
