Dragon Boat Festival News: Integrating English and Art
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival that falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. This year, it fell on June 25th. To celebrate this festival, our school organized an English and art integration activity for our students.
Firstly, the English department taught the students about the history and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival. They also learned some English phrases related to the festival, such as 'Dragon Boat Festival' and 'sticky rice dumplings'.
After the English lesson, the art department guided the students in making their own Dragon Boat Festival decorations. They used colorful paper, scissors, and glue to make paper dragons, boat-shaped lanterns, and lotus flowers. The students were very creative and made some beautiful and unique decorations.
Finally, the students presented their decorations to their classmates and shared what they had learned about the festival in English. They also enjoyed some delicious sticky rice dumplings, which are a traditional food for the Dragon Boat Festival.
Overall, the English and art integration activity was a great success. The students not only learned about the festival in English, but also had the opportunity to express their creativity through making their own decorations. We hope to continue organizing more activities like this in the future.
