China Enacts New Rules for Internet Information Enforcement

China's National Internet Information Office has published its 'Regulations on Administrative Law Enforcement Procedures of Internet Information Departments,' which will come into effect on June 1, 2023. The new rules, which revise regulations first published in 2017, clarify the administrative jurisdiction of internet information departments and specify the procedures that should be followed in cases from investigation and evidence collection to decision-making and execution. They also establish a system for monitoring the implementation of administrative penalties and provide for appeals and complaints by those affected by penalties.
