MRI for Multiphase Flow Measurement: A Comprehensive Review
As the demand for accurate and non-invasive flow measurement techniques continues to grow, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has emerged as a promising tool for multiphase flow measurement. MRI can provide detailed information on the flow of multiple phases, including gas, liquid, and solid particles, within a single measurement. In this review, we provide an overview of the current state of MRI-based multiphase flow measurement, including the principles of MRI and the different MRI techniques used for multiphase flow measurement. We also discuss the advantages and limitations of MRI compared to other flow measurement techniques, such as optical methods and electrical conductivity measurements. Finally, we discuss the future directions of MRI-based multiphase flow measurement, including the development of new MRI techniques, the integration of MRI with other measurement techniques, and the application of MRI to new areas, such as microfluidics and porous media. Overall, MRI has the potential to become a powerful tool for multiphase flow measurement in a wide range of applications, from oil and gas production to biomedical research.
