Production Tooling Management Specification

  1. Purpose This specification establishes the management process for tooling/mold design, selection, manufacturing, acceptance, use, maintenance, and replacement, to ensure that the tooling/mold meets product requirements and applicable legal regulations.

  2. Scope This specification applies to the management and usage rules of tooling/molds in our company, including those purchased externally or outsourced. It is applicable to the technical department, quality department, production department, procurement department, and related departments of our company.

  3. Definitions Tooling - Refers to fixtures, gauges, tools, cutting tools, auxiliary tools, and containers used in assembly and manufacturing processes. Mold - Specifically refers to metal molds used for pressing conductive rings. Outsourced Tooling/Mold - Refers to the partial processing of self-made tooling/mold being outsourced or the tooling/mold design being undertaken by our company, with the manufacturing carried out by an external unit based on the design information provided, and acceptance conducted by us based on the design data. Purchased Tooling/Mold - Refers to tooling/mold design and manufacturing being outsourced, with us only responsible for accepting qualified tooling/mold that meets product requirements.

  4. Responsibilities 4.1 Technical Department - Responsible for providing product structural drawings, relevant information, and specification documents, as well as confirming the acceptance of tooling/mold. Also responsible for the final assembly and process acceptance of outsourced or purchased tooling/mold. 4.3 Quality Department - Responsible for dimension inspection of tooling, periodic calibration of critical tooling/mold, and conducting visual inspection, dimension measurement, and functional testing of samples. 4.4 Procurement Department - Responsible for the procurement or control of outsourced tooling/mold, and handling matters related to the organization of tooling/mold acceptance process. 4.5 Production Department - Responsible for the acceptance of tooling/mold's operational conditions in terms of process and operability, and responsible for daily maintenance. 4.6 Equipment Manager - Responsible for overall tooling/mold management.

  5. Procedures

No. Process Responsible Party Job Description Record 1 Demand Proposal Technical Department During the new product/project design and development process, the technical department proposes tooling/mold requirements. Using departments When there is a need to add new tooling/mold in daily work, tooling design department can be approached through internal communication to propose tooling/mold requirements. The design department will provide relevant inspection, review, and suggestion information, or actively propose requirements. 2 Design and Selection Technical Department Based on design requirements and product specifications, design and selection are carried out. Specialized tooling/mold will be documented in tooling/mold drawings, assigned a unique identification number, and marked with its status in the process specification. General-purpose tooling/mold (such as cutting tools and tools) will be specified by model and specification in the process specification. Tooling/Mold Drawings 3 Application Using departments Submit tooling/mold purchase/outsourcing application forms. Tooling/Mold Application Form 4 Approval General Manager Tooling/mold purchase/outsourcing application forms are reviewed by relevant department managers and approved by the general manager before being executed by the procurement department. Approval 5 Procurement/Outsourcing Procurement Department Procurement/outsourcing must be carried out with suppliers that meet the following conditions (unless specified by the customer): a) Legitimate business qualifications; b) Self-inspection capabilities. 7 Acceptance Application Technical Department Within 3 working days after the supplier confirms the sample submission, if there are no modifications required by the technical department and the mold acceptance conditions are met, the technical department issues the "Tooling/Mold Arrival Notice". The workshop, upon receiving the acceptance application, needs to reply with the acceptance date to the technical department within 3 working days. Tooling/Mold Arrival Notice 8 Preliminary Acceptance Technical Department During tooling/mold acceptance, the technical department should gather project leaders, quality personnel, and tooling/mold users to jointly verify the production status of the tooling/mold. The production quantity during the trial mold should not be less than 100 pieces of the product. Using departments Responsible for accepting tooling/mold's operability, compatibility with equipment, and other aspects, and finally form the "Tooling/Mold Acceptance Form". Tooling/Mold Acceptance Form, etc. Quality Department Responsible for testing the samples produced during the trial mold, measuring the dimensions of the tooling/mold, and forming the "Tooling/Mold Acceptance Form". Technical Department The technical department summarizes and forms the "Tooling/Mold Acceptance Form" and comprehensive judgment of whether the tooling/mold meets the product and production requirements based on the tooling/mold acceptance form and product drawings. If it is not qualified, it will be transferred back to the procurement department. If it is qualified, it will be transferred to the head of the tooling department. 9 Usage Verification Using departments Verify whether the tooling/mold meets the usage requirements. Tooling/Mold Acceptance Tracking Report 10 Improvement Tracking Procurement Department If the acceptance results are not satisfactory due to manufacturing reasons, the supplier will be notified to make improvements. If it is due to design reasons, the design department will be notified to make improvements. After improvement, the verification procedure needs to be re-executed until it is qualified. 11 Storage Procurement Department Qualified tooling/mold and the original copy of the "Tooling/Mold Acceptance Form" are handed over to the equipment manager, and the storage procedures are completed. 12 Tooling Identification and Registering Technical Department Tooling/mold should be numbered and permanently marked whenever possible. If it belongs to the customer, the customer's name must be marked. If the customer has special requirements, the marking should be done according to their request. Establish a "Tooling/Mold Management Register" to record the name, number, drawing number, manufacturing factory, date of entry, and category of all tooling/mold. Clearly mark "Spare", "In Use", "Under Repair", or "Disposed". Tooling/Mold Management Register 13 Borrowing and Returning Users Need to go to the department where the tooling/mold is stored to complete the procedures for borrowing. Specialized tooling/mold needs to go through renewal procedures, while general-purpose tooling/mold requires procedures for receiving and subsequent renewal. Tooling/Mold Borrowing and Receiving Register 14 Replaceable Parts Replacement Plan Production Department For replaceable parts, establish a tooling/mold spare parts plan. Tooling/Mold Spare Parts Pla
