Compared to the traditional maize hybrid ZhengDan 958, the modern hybrid XianYu 335 exhibits enhanced yield potential, with the highest grain yield recorded at 14.9 Mg ha-1 when cultivated at a density of 7.5 × 104 plants ha-1. This yield advantage mainly results from the novel shoot-root interaction in morphology (Nature Food format).
