Irrigation is considered as an alternative approach to mitigate crop water deficit and ensure optimal yield in intensified maize production systems. Guo et al. (2021) conducted a two-year field experiment to investigate the effects of different irrigation and planting densities on maize production. Their findings suggest that a medium planting density of 9.0 × 104 plants ha-1, coupled with irrigation of 337.5 mm under mulch drip irrigation, is recommended for spring maize production in the dryland regions of Northwest China (Guo et al., 2021)
