This study, based on the Technology Acceptance Model, aims to explore the influence of different dimensions of knowledge background on the willingness to use autonomous vehicles and to test the mediating role of technology anxiety, technology self-efficacy, and trust, as well as the moderating role of driving experience. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 633 participants, and the results showed that (1) the usefulness, reliability, and intelligence dimensions of knowledge background have a positive impact on the willingness to use autonomous vehicles; (2) technology anxiety, technology self-efficacy, and trust play a mediating role in the relationship between knowledge background and willingness to use; (3) driving experience moderates the effects of trust on the reliability and intelligence paths. This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model and broadens the perspective of future autonomous vehicle-related knowledge dissemination, aiming to enrich the public's knowledge system of autonomous vehicles
