Over the past few decades, there has been a growing trend in the development of combination drugs in Western medicine, which has yielded positive results in terms of discovering and screening techniques for these drugs. Chinese medicine, on the other hand, is characterized by its "multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway" properties, which, when combined with years of clinical experience, serves as a reliable component library for synergistic drug combinations. This paper provides a summary of the use of systems biology, histology, machine learning, and mathematical modeling in discovering drug combinations over the past decade, while also discussing the advantages and shortcomings of each method
