Soybean Meal Production Inspection: Observations and Concerns
On May 11th, the consignee gave us a tour of the production workshop and provided an overview of the general production and measurement processes. We observed that the workshop control room displayed data from the funnel scale and some flow meters. However, we noted that statistical data was not displayed next to the machines. Additionally, the consignee refused to show us this data on site, and we were not permitted to enter the power distribution room or boiler room to check the meters.
During our inspection, we discovered that the label on the funnel scale used for degumming oil measurement indicated that its validity period expired on February 11th, 2014. Although the consignee claimed to regularly calibrate their measuring instruments, they acknowledged that some may have expired.
As the consignee prohibited us from bringing electronic devices into the workshop, we were unable to take photos or record the situation inside.
Subsequently, we conducted a survey of the soybean meal warehouse. We observed that soybean meal was poured directly into woven bags with two specifications based on weight: 50kg per bag and 70kg per bag. The bags were printed with the brand, quality information, and production date of the soybean meal. According to the information on the bags, the moisture content of the soybean meal was less than or equal to 13%, and the protein solubility was greater than or equal to 73%.
