In the initial clinical courses undertaken this semester, I primarily acquired knowledge and practical experience pertaining to hospital safety, hospital-acquired infections, hospital green channels and emergency procedures, doctor-patient interactions, the medical core system, and the composition and functions of various departments within the hospital. Each of these courses has left a profound impact on me.

Firstly, in the study of hospital safety, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the significance of preventing potential hazards within the hospital environment. I observed the management of sewage rooms, learned about the categorization and treatment processes of medical waste and injuries caused by sharp instruments and occupational exposure, and developed the concept of asepsis.

Secondly, in the study of nosocomial infections, my team members and I experienced and learned about the monitoring of hospital environmental hygiene, particularly the methods used to monitor air disinfection effectiveness and hand hygiene. These methods enable timely detection and identification of nosocomial infection outbreaks and help safeguard hospitals against allegations of such infections. Additionally, I acquired systematic knowledge regarding the importance of hand hygiene and mastered the seven-step handwashing technique, which I continue to practice diligently.

Thirdly, through my experience in hospital green channels and emergency departments, I learned that the three crucial steps in emergency care involve immediate identification of life-threatening conditions, assessment of circulatory, airway, respiratory, and pulse oxygen indicators, and prompt execution of laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, and imaging tests. I deeply realized the value of time in emergency situations. The hospital's emergency green channel made every effort to ensure that patients received prompt rescue, thereby minimizing the deterioration of their conditions. During this process, I witnessed the efficient abilities, professionalism, and composure of the medical staff, which greatly impressed me.

Furthermore, in my doctor-patient interactions, I encountered the disparity in disease perception and treatment expectations between patients and doctors. I also investigated doctors' understanding of patients' needs, the effectiveness of their treatment implementation, and their self-evaluation. In my view, there is still a long way to go in resolving the doctor-patient dispute, and the key lies in reducing the cognitive gap between doctors and patients regarding the condition. Doctors should strive to provide the best possible service to patients.

Moreover, in the study of the core medical system, the checking system stands out as the most memorable aspect. The "three checks and seven pairs" protocol significantly reduces the likelihood of medical accidents, thereby establishing a solid foundation for hospital safety.

Finally, through the study of the composition and functions of various departments within the hospital, I gained insights into the responsibilities of the outpatient service desk, which includes receiving patients, registering information, providing consultation and guidance services; pharmacies, responsible for dispensing medicines in a timely manner; and laboratory and radiology departments, which provide diagnostic support for doctors. This experience made me deeply appreciate the complexity of hospitals and the hard work of medical personnel, further fueling my interest and enthusiasm for a career in medicine.

In summary, during the early part of this semester, I obtained a preliminary understanding of various aspects of the hospital environment and the work of doctors. I gained early exposure to the medical and health profession, honed my doctor-patient communication skills, developed a sense of humanistic care, and enhanced my overall humanistic qualities. Most importantly, my interest in medicine has greatly deepened as a result of this course.

For the improvement of this course, I have two suggestions:

Firstly, there should be stronger coordination between the school and the medical institutions. Specifically, the school should notify the hospital in a timely manner before students arrive. On several occasions during the early clinical courses this year, students arrived at the hospital without any response, leaving them unsure of how to proceed and resulting in wasted time. I hope this issue can be addressed.

Secondly, efforts should be made to minimize overlap between the first and second semester courses. In the early clinical courses of the second semester, some teaching content overlaps with that of the first semester, such as the introduction of the medical insurance system. I suggest paying attention to the arrangement of courses to avoid repetition of the same knowledge. If review is necessary, I hope the teaching methods can be improved and content overlap can be reduced
