Act 1:

Scene: A shared apartment with two roommates, Jane and Sarah.

(Jane is studying on the couch while Sarah is cooking in the kitchen. The music is playing loudly in the background.)

Jane: (yelling) Can you please turn down the music? I can’t concentrate.

Sarah: (yelling back) Sorry, I can’t hear you. What did you say?

Jane: (getting up and turning off the music) I said, can you please turn down the music?

Sarah: (rolling her eyes) Fine. But you could have just asked nicely.

Jane: (sighs) I’m sorry, I’ve just got a big exam coming up and I really need to focus.

Sarah: (shrugs) Whatever. I’m almost done cooking anyways.

(Jane goes back to studying while Sarah finishes cooking. Once Sarah is done, she leaves the kitchen a mess and goes to her room.)

Jane: (muttering to herself) Great. Now I have to clean up after her again.

(Jane is trying to study on the couch while Sarah is watching TV loudly.)

Jane: (sighs) Can you please turn down the TV? I can’t focus.

Sarah: (annoyed) Seriously? You can’t study with a little background noise?

Jane: (frustrated) No, I can’t. Please turn it down.

Sarah: (turning down the TV) Fine. But you’re being ridiculous.

Jane: (exasperated) I just need a little bit of peace and quiet to study.

Sarah: (sarcastically) Well, I’m sorry I’m such a terrible roommate.

(Jane rolls her eyes and goes to her room to study.)

Act 3:

Scene: The kitchen. Jane and Sarah are both trying to cook dinner at the same time.

(Jane and Sarah are both trying to cook dinner at the same time, bumping into each other and getting in each other’s way.)

Jane: (frustrated) Can you please give me some space? I’m trying to cook.

Sarah: (irritated) Can’t you see I’m trying to cook too?

Jane: (angrily) Yes, but we’re getting in each other’s way.

Sarah: (raising her voice) Well, maybe if you weren’t taking up the whole kitchen, I would have some space.

Jane: (yelling) I’m not taking up the whole kitchen! You’re the one who keeps getting in my way.

Sarah: (yelling back) No, you’re the one who won’t move!

(Jane and Sarah continue to argue until they both storm off to their own rooms.)

Act 4:

Scene: The living room. Jane and Sarah are sitting on the couch, both looking upset.

(Jane and Sarah are sitting on the couch, both looking upset.)

Jane: (sighs) I’m sorry we keep arguing.

Sarah: (nodding) Yeah, me too. I don’t know why we keep getting on each other’s nerves.

Jane: (shrugs) I guess it’s just a lot to live with someone else.

Sarah: (smiling) But I’m glad we can talk about it and work things out.

Jane: (smiling back) Me too. We’re still friends, right?

Sarah: (laughing) Of course we are. Roommate wars are just a part of living together.

(Jane and Sarah hug, and the scene ends with them both smiling.
