The Rise of Online News: A Positive Trend?
In recent days, due to technological advances, it has been observed that learning about news worldwide on the Internet is gradually replacing traditional forms such as reading newspapers or watching TV. As far as I am concerned, this development is positive. We must acknowledge that the transition from old methods to new ones is an unstoppable trend in every aspect of our lives and is often accompanied by updated technologies, which is exactly the case in this situation.
When considering convenience, there are two advantages to reading news online. Firstly, accessing news on your phone can be easily incorporated into busy schedules. People can scroll through news articles at any time of the day, such as during their commute or lunch break, which is much more flexible compared to watching a TV program at a fixed time. Secondly, we are free to participate in animated discussions on trending topics on the Internet and explore endless incredible events overseas with just a click of the mouse. This is definitely easier than buying newspapers on different topics or from different areas.
Some people argue that this development is depriving newspaper sellers of opportunities to thrive and make a profit. However, it is the public market that determines which companies will survive and which will not. If they cannot meet the changing demands for news consumption, they will be defeated. Nevertheless, businesses can try to report news online freely and generate revenue from advertisements if they are popular enough.
In conclusion, I believe that the shift towards obtaining news online is a positive development that offers convenience and a wider range of information.
