The results showed that, unlike in healthy individuals where the same muscles on both sides had a similar position in multi-muscle dynamic coupling, the non-affected side muscles of stroke patients were located in a more upstream position in the overall dynamic coupling of multiple muscles, while the affected side muscles were located in a relatively downstream position. We labeled the muscles with a difference in ranking position of five or more between the two groups of subjects. Compared to healthy individuals, under open-eye conditions, the ranking positions of LO, GME, TA, and GM on the affected side of stroke patients were significantly reduced, while the ranking positions of GMA and TA on the non-affected side were significantly increased (Fig. 5a); under closed-eye conditions, the changes in muscle ranking positions of stroke patients were similar to those under open-eye conditions, with the addition of a significant increase in the ranking position of GME on the non-affected side (Fig. 5b)
