N-Glycosylation Patterns in Liver Cancer: Differential Expression of Oligomannose, Complex/Hybrid, and Sialylation Types
Various types of N-glycosylation showed different expression patterns in patients with liver cancer. We combined all site-specific sugar chains of the same type to determine the overall expression abundance of oligomannose, complex/hybrid, and various complex/hybrid subtypes. The oligomannose type was significantly increased in peripheral platelets of HCC and mLC patients, whereas the complex/hybrid type was decreased. Furthermore, the sialylation type, specifically the site-specific sugar chain modified by sialic acid, exhibited a significant downregulation trend (Fig. 7).
