Act 1

Scene 1 Sarah is sitting at her desk, frantically searching for something. John walks in.

John: Hey, Sarah. What's going on?

Sarah: (looking up) John, I lost my key. I can't find it anywhere.

John: (smiling) Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find it. Maybe it's in your bag?

Sarah: (sighing) I already checked. It's not there.

Scene 2 Mr. Lee walks in.

Mr. Lee: Good morning, Sarah. Is everything okay?

Sarah: (nervously) Mr. Lee, I lost my key. I don't know where it is.

Mr. Lee: (frowning) That's not good. We can't have anyone without a key to the building. We'll have to get you a new one.

Act 2

Scene 1 Sarah is sitting in Mr. Lee's office, filling out paperwork for a new key.

Mr. Lee: (looking at the form) It says here that you lost your key while you were out at lunch?

Sarah: (nodding) Yes, that's right.

Mr. Lee: (skeptically) I find that hard to believe. We have strict protocol for key security. Are you sure you didn't give it to someone else?

Sarah: (defensively) No, of course not. I wouldn't do that.

Scene 2 Later that day, Sarah is leaving the office when she sees a familiar face.

Sarah: (calling out) Excuse me, sir. Can I ask you something?

The man turns around. It's the same man who had been in the office earlier that day.

Man: (smiling) Sure, what do you need?

Sarah: (pointing to his hand) That key. Where did you get it?

Man: (confused) What key?

Sarah: (angrily) The key to our office building. I know you took it.

Man: (laughing) Oh, that key. I found it on the ground earlier. I was going to return it to the front desk.

Sarah: (sighing in relief) Thank goodness. I thought someone had stolen it.

Man: (handing her the key) Here you go. No harm done.

Epilogue

Sarah walks back into the office building, feeling relieved and grateful. She sees Mr. Lee and John waiting for her.

Mr. Lee: (smiling) Sarah, we're glad you found your key. We were worried about the security of the building.

Sarah: (nodding) I know, I'm sorry. I promise it won't happen again.

John: (smiling) Don't worry, Sarah. We all make mistakes. We're just glad it all turned out okay.

Sarah: (smiling) Me too.
