Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War, while Robert E. Lee was a general in the Confederate army. Lee was seen as one of the most talented military leaders of the Confederacy and was responsible for many of their early victories. Davis relied heavily on Lee throughout the war and considered him one of his most trusted advisors. Despite their close relationship, Lee eventually surrendered to Union forces, effectively ending the war. Davis was later captured and imprisoned for two years before being released.
