Electrocatalyst Preparation and Characterization for CO2 Reduction: Materials and Methods
This study employed a series of materials to prepare and characterize an electrocatalyst for the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2). The materials and their sources are outlined below.
Electrocatalyst Synthesis:
- Ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (≥99.95%) was sourced from Shanghai McLean Biochemical Technology Co., Ltd.
- Silver nitrate (AR) was obtained from Guangdong Wengjiang Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd.
Electrocatalyst Purification:
- Ethanolamine (AR) was purchased from Tianjin Kemiou Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd.
Electrocatalyst Immobilization:
- Anhydrous ethanol (AR) was obtained from Tianjin Damao Chemical Reagent Factory.
- Deionized water was used to dissolve the catalyst.
- Nafion solution (5 wt.%) (AR) was supplied by DuPont.
- Carbon nanotubes (≥95%) were sourced from Zhengzhou Alpha Chemical Co., Ltd.
Electrochemical Characterization:
- Sulfuric acid (AR) was supplied by Tianjin Damao Chemical Reagent Factory.
- 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim]BF4) (≥98%) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBABF4) (≥98%) were sourced from Shanghai McLean Biochemical Technology Co., Ltd. These materials were used to construct an H-type electrolyzer for electrochemical analysis.
Gas Sources:
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) and helium gas (He) (both ≥99.99%) were purchased from Baoding Jinglian Gas Plant.
